

Carl “Bill” William Meffert, Jr., 85, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Baptist East Hospital. He was born on December 8, 1939, to the late Evelyn and Carl Meffert, Sr.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carolyn Ann Meffert; and brother, Jim Meffert.
Bill loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He and his late wife, Carol, would have them over for weekend visits, making popcorn, going to the zoo and doing other fun activities. He also loved to go square dancing and later 2-step country music dancing with his wife and friends.
Bill was an avid sports fan. When he was a senior at Manual High School, he started center field for the baseball team and helped contribute to a State Championship in 1957. He was active in numerous athletic leagues including coaching Senior Little League city all-star teams, and he coached/managed his son, Greg’s, baseball and basketball teams. He was the president of the Greenville, Indiana Youth Optimist Club in the 1970’s. Bill also enjoyed hosting an annual booth at Harvest Homecoming in New Albany, IN to help raise funds for the Greenville Optimist Club.
Bill was an avid bowler, golfer and softball player. He even managed a 300 score in his group bowling league and scored a hole in one at one point in his golfing league.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Sandra (Frank) Oliver; his son, Gregory (Tammy) Meffert; 6 grandchildren; 3 great – grandchildren; sister, Linda Dean; and a host of other extended family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held privately. Bill will be laid to rest with Carolyn in the Court of St. Paul Mausoleums of the Evergreen Cemetery & Garden Mausoleums.
