Carl was a Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia Vertrees; children, Carl L. Vertrees (Brenda), Valerie Basil (Fred), Robin Adams (Tim), Kerry Vertrees (Janet), Kim Vertrees; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 6 brothers and sisters.
There will be a Celebration of Life at 7pm on Friday, January 24, 2014 at Evergreen Funeral Home, with cremation to follow.
Visitation will be from 4-7pm on Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be directed to Susan G. Komen Foundation, Alzheimer's Association, or Humane Society.
