A Louisville native, Carmen graduated from Ahrens Trade High School Class of 1959. In July of that same year she married the love of her life, Jim Walker, beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in love, hard work, and devotion. Together Carmen and Jim built their Louisville business, Jim Walker Insurance Agency, creating not only a livelihood but a legacy.
Carmen had a vibrant personality and an appreciation for life’s finer details. She was an avid shopper who loved fashion, jewelry, shoes, and decorating her home. When she wasn’t shopping or spending time with her children and grandchildren, she enjoyed golfing, playing poker, and spending treasured time with her family, her beloved cousins Barbara and Kathy, and her many dear friends. While Louisville was her first home, she spent many happy years as a resident of Fort Myers, Florida, before returning to Louisville to reside with her daughter Aprile.
Above all Carmen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her love for her family was evident in everything she did, and her presence brought warmth and joy to those around her.
She is survived by her brother, Mike Holzknecht (Leisha); her daughters, Connie Hayse (Keith) and Aprile Logsdon; her grandchildren, Jimmy, Carmen, Jennifer, and Courtney; and her six great-grandchildren: Dylen, Aidan, Kyndal, Londyn, Natalie, and Grayson. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Carmen was preceded in death by her parents, Wanda and Carl Holzknecht; her brother, Tommy Holzknecht; and her beloved husband, Jim Walker.
With faith and hope, we hold to the promise of reunion and eternal life:
“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.” - John 11:25
“We do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in him.” - 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14
Carmen will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
