Born in Louisville on August 2, 1941, Carol was the daughter of Charles George Keeling and Ruth Elizabeth (Heft) Keeling. She was a lifelong resident of Louisville, except for a brief period in Bowling Green, Kentucky, during the early 1970s when she supported her husband through his graduate studies. Despite her time away, Louisville remained her true home.
On August 8, 1964, Carol married Ronald Franklin Huffman, Sr., the love of her life. Together, they built a wonderful life grounded in family, faith, and mutual devotion, sharing 61 years of marriage until Ronald’s recent passing on April 12, 2026.
Carol was a proud 1959 graduate of Southern High School. She went on to pursue her passion for learning at Western Kentucky State Teacher’s College (now Western Kentucky University), where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education, later returning to WKU to complete her Master’s degree in Education.
A natural educator with a servant’s heart, Carol spent 31 years teaching high school business classes across numerous schools in the Louisville and Bowling Green areas. She deeply loved her profession and found immense joy in molding young lives. Her passion for teaching was so enduring that, even after her formal retirement, she continued to share her expertise and inspire students as an instructor at Jefferson Community College.
Beyond her career, Carol filled her life with the things and people she loved most. She was an avid reader, a skilled cross-stitcher, and a loyal friend who cherished her regular lunch outings and movie dates. She had a green thumb and took great joy in caring for her plants and flowers. A woman of deep faith, Carol was a proud and active parishioner of Crossroads Church (formally known as St. Paul United Church Of Christ), where she faithfully served on several boards and committees over the years. Above all, her greatest joy came from supporting her sons and cheering on her beloved grandchildren.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Ronald (Ronnie), Sr.
She is survived by her two devoted sons, Ronald (Chip) Franklin Huffman, Jr. and his wife, Ginger, and Chad Michael Huffman; her dear sister, Barbara Fisher and her husband, Bill; and her five cherished grandchildren, Grayson McClaine Huffman, Addison Monroe Huffman, Tucker Franklin Huffman, Brooks Kellen Huffman, and Keaton Burke Huffman.
Family, friends, and former students are invited to celebrate Carol’s life on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 11:00am to 2:00pm at Evergreen Funeral Home, located at 4623 Preston Highway, Louisville, Kentucky.
A Funeral Service will follow at the same location on the same date beginning at 2:00pm. Carol will be laid to rest next to her husband at Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Carol's memory to honor her lifelong love of education and reading to the Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning.
