She was a member of St. Matthew United Church of Christ and Immanuel United Church of Christ. Her husband, Elmer and herself owned the Sparks Five and Dime Store on Barret Avenue. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Carolyn was the youngest of seven children born to Henry and Bertha Zurschmeid Schneider. She was preceded in death by her siblings and her husband, Elmer W. Sparks.
She is survived by her son, Ron Sparks (Cheryl); a daughter, Carol Lynn Sullivan (George); a granddaughter, Carin Kraus; two great-grandchildren, Hayden A. Kraus and Libby Kraus as well as several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be conducted Friday, May 31, 2013 at 8:00 p.m. at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road with private burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 until service time on Friday at the funeral home.
