Carolyn Ann Stevens

Carolyn was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1966 and received her degree from Sullivan College in 1967. Carolyn began her career with Bank of Louisville Royal before moving on to GMC. It was here that she found her love for working in finance. After GMC, she worked for University of Louisville for 44 years, retiring not once, but twice. Carolyn was a dedicated employee and was so proud of her work at UofL, specifically her work in the Urban Studies, Housing, and Provost departments. After celebrating over 40 years at UofL, her photo was even displayed on the side of a building downtown that you could see from the freeway.

Her faith was also an important part of her life. Before she moved down to Tennessee, Carolyn was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Jeffersontown. She served the Lord in many ways through the church, including on the finance committee, teaching Sunday School, but probably most importantly, she was a member of the church choir. Carolyn had a musical gift and was often spreading the good word through her wonderful singing.

Aside from work and church, Carolyn was a decorated bowler. She played for several leagues over the course of her life, winning many trophies. She was also a frequent patron at the Louisville Zoo and loved her outings to play Bingo with her lady friends. Carolyn also enjoyed collecting pig figurines. What started as a private joke with her daughter ended up becoming a huge part of her life. Pig figurines that her friends and family gifted her from their travels, as well as the ones she collected herself, were given little personalities and storylines that brought her such joy. She will be so greatly missed.

Along with her parents, Carolyn is preceded in death by her sisters, Eva Stevens and Sherry C. Matthews; her nephew, Anthony “AT” Stevens, Sr.; her great-nephew, Anthony “Stevie” Stevens, Jr.; and her great-niece, Stephanie Stevens.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Annette C. Stevens; her brother, Dr. Eugene E. Stevens (Eva); her sister, Charlene Stevens; her brother, Victor L. Stevens (Elizabeth); her niece, Wyvonne Stevens-Carter (Glen); her niece, Dr. Danelle Stevens-Watkins (Bryce); her nephew, Earl L. Stevens (Rhoda); her nephew, Elliott Stevens; along with other extended family members and friends.

A visitation for Carolyn will be held at Evergreen Funeral Home in Louisville, Kentucky on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 11:00AM to 1:00PM. A funeral service honoring her life will begin on the same date at 1:00PM with a cemetery chapel committal to follow. She will be entombed in Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
