

Charles F. Bauer, 93, passed away peacefully on Dec. 16, 2014. He was a WWII veteran and lived by the Navy Core Values of Honor, Courage and Commitment throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mary C. and sisters Lucille, Thelma, Virginia and Hazel.
Survivors include his children Charles Jr. (Ellen), Helen (Dennis), Carolyn and Harry (Beth), brother George and sister Margaret, 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Charles and his father (Carl) co-founded Carl Bauer & Son Heating and Cooling in 1932. He retired after 54 years leaving the business in good hands to his son Harry.
He was loved and known as “Mr. Charlie” by teachers, staff and children at Hawthorne Elementary School.
Many thanks go to Karen Taylor, Valerie Goodwin, Judy Wagoner, Mary Myers, and others whose care and friendship brought him joy and allowed him to live independently until recent months.
Visitation is 3-8 pm on Friday, Dec. 19 and the funeral is 2 pm on Saturday, Dec. 20. Both will be at Arch L. Heady & Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY.
