Chuck’s life was marked by Christian service to everyone with whom his path crossed.
Charles Albert Doty, age 69, of Louisville, KY, entered eternal life in Christ on September 17, 2025.
He was born in Louisville, KY in 1955 to Richard “Dick” Doty and Mary Catherine Doty (Pfeifer). Chuck attended St. Rita Catholic School and graduated from Southern High School in 1974.
Chuck met the love of his life, Peggy Lee Wynn, at Southern High School. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married in 1979.
Chuck and Peggy have three children: Nick (Amanda), Lauren (Jeremiah), and Chris (Brittany).
In the last 10 years Chuck and Peggy joyfully welcomed 10 grandchildren to their family: Jason, Maya, Emma, Gwynn, Selah, Lora, Eli, Lynnie, Charlie, and Eden. Chuck treasured time with his grandkids and loved being their Papaw/Grandpa. They were always delighted to see him. He often took on the alter ego “The Giant Ooga,” chasing them around the house. He was happy to include them in whatever project he was working on; willingly handing them a paint brush or screwdriver to join in.
Chuck worked as an Electrician with IBEW Local 369 before starting a career spanning more than 30 years in Plant Maintenance at UPS. He retired from UPS in 2018. He was a skilled craftsman who prided himself on working hard to provide well for his family.
Chuck was an active member of Southeast Christian Church where he was baptized in 1991. He enjoyed gathering each Saturday morning for the Men’s Bible Study. His faith in Jesus was made increasingly evident as the years went on. He mirrored the love of Christ to all he met.
Chuck was a volunteer leader for over 15 years, first at Cub Scout Pack 366 - St. Athanasius, and then at Boy Scout Troop 212 - Southeast Christian Church. He encouraged both of his sons, as well as others on their path to Eagle Scout. Chuck became a father and role model to many who needed one.
After retirement, Chuck spent much of his time volunteering with CrossRoads Missions. He used his God given abilities, working with his hands, to serve those in need. There, Chuck met many likeminded servants of God, whom he loved.
Chuck will always be remembered for his eagerness to volunteer his time and skills to causes that benefitted God’s Kingdom. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with and serving his family.
We couldn’t have asked for a better husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. We will miss him every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved and were served by him.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Richard “Dick” Doty and Mary Catherine Doty (Pfeifer). He is survived by his wife, Peggy Doty; his children, Nick Doty (Amanda), Lauren Taylor (Jeremiah), and Chris Doty (Brittany); 10 cherished grandchildren; and siblings, Rick Doty (Terry), Cathy Overberg (Bob), Jack Doty, Anne Howlett, and Greg Doty (Gloria).
Visitation will be 2:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, and 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM on Friday, September 26. Funeral service will be in the chapel at the funeral home on Friday, September 26, at 12:00 PM, with interment to follow in Cave Hill Cemetery.
Donations in honor of Chuck to CrossRoads Missions would be greatly appreciated.

“But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words.” - 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
