

Charles Franklin Garr, of Louisville, passed away peacefully at Baptist Hospital while surrounded by loving family on Friday, January 29, 2016 after fighting a long illness. He was born August 4, 1935.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Catherine Stickler Garr and two sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Melva (Arnett) Garr; sister, Helen Cannon; children, Mark Alan Garr (Karen), Charles Michael Garr (Paula), and Christi Lea Murphy (Donald); grandchildren Blake Garr, Brittany Garr Blankenbaker (Rob), Shelby Wade, Patrick Garr, Abby Garr; step-grandchildren Tyler Murphy, Chase Murphy, Christina Langdon, and Britney Langdon; and great-grandchild, Clay Blankenbaker.
The family would like to express sincere thanks to the staff of Baptist Hospital and his many personal doctors for their exceptional care and attention during his illness. Special appreciation to Dr. H. Dale Haller Jr., MD for his loving care throughout the illness.
Charley Garr retired from Cissell Manufacturing after over 40 years of dedicated service, and was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. He touched many souls during his lifetime. He was a rock to many friends and family, and will surely be missed. There is peace in knowing that he will now touch many more souls with our Lord and Savior.
His funeral service will be at 12pm on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40218. Visitation will held at the funeral home from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 1, 2016. Burial will be at a later date.
