

Charles J. Kleinhans, 94, of Louisville passed away August 31, 2015 at Westport Place Health Campus. He was born on May 18, 1921 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Charles A. and Ethel Kleinhans. Charles received his Bachelors of Science in Engineering from Ohio State University. He was a member of Christ Church United Methodist Church and a member of the Pathfinders Sunday School Class. He was a Navy veteran in World War II during the Normandy Evasion aboard LST 138. Charles was a member of VFW Middletown Post 1170 where he also served in the Honor Guard, The American Legion- Zachary Taylor Post 180 and was a Scottish Rite 31 degree Mason.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Eva Kleinhans and a brother, Jack R. Kleinhans.
He is survived by his children, Charles D. Kleinhans (Susan), Robert J. Kleinhans (Ellen) and Jack W. Kleinhans (Lynn); three grandchildren, Kelly, Karen and Erika; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend an extra thanks to the staff at Westport Place for their loving care.
A service to celebrate his life will be conducted Friday, September 4, 2015 at 10:00 am at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road with entombment in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-8 on Thursday at the funeral home.
