He was born in Jeffersonville, Indiana to the late Fred and Joyce Schuler. He was a graduate of Bellarmine University and a retired district manager with the Social Security Administration. Charles was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a dedicated public servant and was well liked by all who knew and worked with him. After his retirement, he devoted much of his time to serving those in need, delivering meals to seniors. In his free time, he enjoyed watching sports, reading, traveling, and spending time with his brothers and sisters.
Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 43 years, Arlene Schuler, as well as his brother, Michael. He is survived by his loving children, Lori Gavin (Shawn), Chuck Schuler (Kathleen), Dr. John Schuler (Dr. Elizabeth), Suzanne Schuler (Daniel Guillory), grandchildren Lindsay Gavin, Madison McGathey (Hunter), Daniel Guillory, Caroline Guillory, Ivy Schuler, and Charlie Schuler. He is also survived by three brothers, Richard Schuler (Jill), Francis Schuler (Kathy) and Robert Schuler (Diana), as well as five sisters, Joyce Cecil, Kathleen Belt, Margaret Wade (Bryce), Mary Lawson (Russel), and Ruth McRae (Gordon).
A memorial visitation will be held from 1pm - 3pm on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd. Louisville, KY 40222. A memorial service will follow at 3 pm.
Inurnment will take place at a later date at Cave Hill Cemetery.
The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be made to the Home of the Innocents or Meals on Wheels.
