

He was born in Maretburg, Kentucky, to Robert Bruce Cope and Garnett Creech Cope on March 29, 1936. Keith was a 32nd Degree Mason, having been a member for over 50 years. He was a faithful Baptist, even serving as a Deacon at his church at one time. Keith was an ardent University of Kentucky fan, his loved ones saying he “bled” wildcat blue. He was good with his hands and a country boy; he enjoyed farming and building things. Keith loved his outings to Cracker Barrel, and he never met a stranger.
Most of all, Keith was a beloved brother, uncle, and friend, He will be missed.
Along with his parents, Keith is preceded in death by his loving wife, Helene Cope; his sister, June Cope Bishop; his brothers, Neal Cope and Charles Cope; his nephew, Daniel Bishop; his dogs, Molly and Casey; and other family members.
Left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Audrey Sanders and Barbara Ruch; his close family friend and neighbor, Mary Ann Chester; his nephews, Jerry Cope (Carmen), John Cope (Renay), Brian Ruch, Donald Sanders, Rick Sanders, and Mike Sanders; his nieces, Stephanie Fritsch, Rhonda Propes, Gayle Jackson, and Vickie Frey; and his sweet kitty, Jerry Lee.
A visitation for Keith will be held at Evergreen Funeral Home in Louisville, Kentucky on Thursday, March 12th, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. A funeral service will follow in the same location on the same day beginning at 2:00 PM. He will be laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery where he may rejoin his wife.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Keith’s name to local Humane Society.
