He was a devoted son and loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Danny was a graduate of Bishop David Catholic High School and attended the University of Louisville. He was an avid University of Louisville Cardinals fan and spent a lifetime of watching U of L basketball and football games with his brother, sisters, brothers-in-law, nephew and extended family and friends. His sideline commentary during games was both savvy and humorous as he belted out nicknames for each of the players and whistled, while coaching from afar. He was a Cards fan through and through no matter the season. If Danny weren’t watching a U of L game, he could be found on the phone chatting with his sister, Sandy, or nephew, Glenn, in Cincinnati, over the latest and greatest Cincinnati Bengals or Cleveland Cavaliers game or calling his niece, Theresa, during Pittsburgh Steelers games. Danny was a sports enthusiast, legendary entertainer and witty commentator for all his family during sporting events.
Danny tremendously enjoyed music and concerts. He bonded with his family over countless vacations, family Christmas, New Year’s Eve parties, and listened to endless hours of songs from his vinyl record collection. He attended an incalculable number of concerts with family and friends. Music brought Danny great joy!
Danny loved the Lord always kept a picture of Christ next to his bed and a rosary, from her wedding, in on his dresser recalls his niece, Faith. He always made sure to wear the crucifix his son, Austin, bought him and had it repaired just days before his passing, so he could keep it close to him. He loved his family and talked to his children, sisters, nieces and nephews daily. He is so greatly missed by his family, who will forever quote his one liners, zingers and comedy that kept everyone laughing. Danny was known for cheering others up and making them laugh to get them through a difficult time even if he weren’t having a great day himself. He had a way of making one smile and know that things would be ok and they’d weather the storm, whilst experiencing his own. That was Danny’s superpower. Danny’s legacy is one of strength, endurance, encouragement, grit, sacrifice, humor and love of God and family.
Danny is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Homer Grim and Vaudia Elizabeth (Guffey), his brothers, John Grim, Steve Grim, Michael Grim, and his brother-in-law, Barry Wank.
