David was a graduate of Newport Catholic High School and received his B.A and M.A in Journalism at Morehead State University. He was a reporter for the Louisville Courier Journal for 27 years. He also acted in regional and local theater, including, Shakespeare in the Park, and Derby Dinner Playhouse.
David is survived by his wife of 32 years, Gayle Johnson Goetz, and his daughter, Carole Nicole Goetz, of Louisville. He is also survived by his sister Helen Marie Ewing (Duane) and brother, Alfred Goetz Jr. (Barbara) and extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Al and Pauline Goetz Sr. of Alexandria, KY.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 14, at 10am in the Shakespeare in the Park Pavillon, Fourth Street between Park and Magnolia, Louisville. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Louisville Home of the Innocents or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
