He was born on April 3, 1954, to Doris Marie (Tobe) Taylor and Donald Francis Taylor, who preceded him in death.
David is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Joanna Lois (Smith) Taylor; brothers Donald Taylor Jr., Dennis (Betty) Taylor, Dale Taylor, Doug (April) Taylor and sisters, Diane Walls and Debra Hughes. Four step-children, six step-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and great nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren.
He went to St. Gabriel the Archangel Grade School and graduated from Trinity High School in 1972. He went to work for General Electric the day after he graduated and that was the only job he had for 39 years. He was a devout Catholic whose lifelong faith guided his daily life and his love for family and friends. He lived his faith with humility, compassion and unwavering dedication.
Softball was his passion! He played men's softball until he was 69 and was inducted into the Hillview Softball Hall of Fame in 2023. His nickname was "hot dog" because he could catch the ball in the outfield behind his back. He loved his work and softball families like they were his own brothers and sisters. In 1993 he married Jody, the love of his life and spent the rest of his life caring for and cherishing her. He was a beloved husband, brother, uncle, grampy and friend with a very giving heart. He was always helping family and friends with anything he could. He was known for his outgoing personality, big smile and sense of humor. He was a great dancer and loved to mimic Tom Jones and Michael Jackson's moves. He was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan his whole life. His greatest memory was going to the final four in New Orleans, with his brothers Donnie, Dennis and his lifelong friend Doug Wick, when Kentucky won the title in 2012!
