David was born January 19, 1961, in Louisville, KY, to parents Gerald and Doris (Clark) Thompson. He was the sixth of seven children. David attended Clark Elementary, Barrett Middle School, Atherton/Ahrens Trade School where he learned auto body work.
Following school, David went to work at Waterson Trail Body Shop, Blue Grass Motorsport (the first KY certified Porsche aluminum body repair specialist), Komfort Koach, Cross Motors, Bob Hook Chevrolet, and Bachman Collision Center.
David enjoyed RV traveling, fishing, metal designing, gardening, flea market shopping, pets, wine making, canning, and a “friendly” card game with his brothers.
Preceding him in death are his father, Gerald, brothers Bruce and Darrell, nephew Jason.
David leaves behind his wife Franzine of Taylorsville; his mother Doris of Louisville; brothers Mark, of Louisville, Alan (Meg) of Louisville, Glen (Karen) of Sebring, Florida, sister Diane of Louisville, a son Lucas (Kelcey) of Georgetown, IN, daughter Brooke (Josh) of New Salisbury, IN, sisters-in-law Theresa, Mary (Steve), brothers-in-law Anthony, Toby (Karla) of Louisville; and six beautiful grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, unlimited cousins.
The family thanks his medical team for helping him throughout his difficult cancer journey.
To know him was to love him. He was wise, stubborn and charming.

A memorial visitation will be held on July 20th from 1 pm until 4 pm at Arch L Heady Funeral Home, 2428 Frankfort Ave. Louisville, KY 40206.
