Deborah R Metcalfe

Debbie was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, James Gilbert Metcalfe, Sr., her son Anthony "Tony" Carl Metcalfe (Jennifer), her parents, Carl and Ethel (Deckman) Kornrumpf; grandson, Jayden and brothers, Carl and Doug Kornrumpf, John "Paw" and Phyliss "Maw" Jarrett.

Born in Louisville, Kentucky on November 12, 1952, she is survived her sons, Jim (Tracy) and Jason (Michelle), four grandchildren, Austin, Taylor (Garrett), Presley (Thomas) and Dayton. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Payton, Tucker and Eloise; her sisters, Judith Aharon (Skee) and Becky Rodgers (Keith) along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Along with raising boys, Debbie worked many jobs, often in the retail business. After her youngest son went off to school, she answered an ad in the local paper to help in a local start up grocery store with a young entrepreneur and over the next 20 years built up their business to be co-owners of a chain of local gas station/convenience stores as well as a lifetime friendship.

After the retirement of her husband around 2000, they moved to Florida, initially in St. Cloud, then Parrish and ended up settling in Bradenton, Sarasota area. After 25 years she opted to return back home to Kentucky and live out the rest of her life near most of her family. She had a love for going to the casino, shopping, cruising and spending time with her Yorkie Daisy, but her true passion was spending time with her family.... specifically, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who she adored.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home (4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218).

Visitation will also be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 12/Noon. Burial will be private at Resthaven Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Debbie's two favorite charities. The Wounded Warrior Project and/or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
