Left to cherish his memory are his mother Denise Pero, dad Charles “Chuck” W. Pero III, Steffanie Orcutt and three sons Brodie, Jonathan, and Avi, as well as his sister Chanda Pero.
He was deeply loved by his aunts and uncles Joyce Stone, Theresa Stone, Kelly and Larry Coomes, Sandra Pero, and Debi Pero, as well as a host of cousins and extended family.
Derek had an infectious smile and went full speed ahead on anything he put his mind to. He loved to cook and go on adventures with his dog Hannibal. He was his mother’s heart and soul and will be missed greatly.
Visitation will take place at Arch L Heady-Cralle Funeral Home on Monday November 10, 2025 from 5pm-8pm. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday November 11, 2025 12pm at Cathedral of the Assumption 433 S 5th St. Louisville, KY 40202.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Derek’s name to The Healing Place, 1020 W. Market St. Louisville, KY 40202
