March 29, 1956 – May 29, 2020 (age 64)
Derrick Costello Carr a beloved and adored husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away from a heart condition on Friday, May 29, 2020 at the age of 64.
Derrick was born on March 29, 1956 in Louisville, Kentucky to Horace Eugene Carr and Eunice Marie (McCoy) Carr. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Patricia Fishback.
In 1990, following his father’s advice, Derrick started his own business that began as a shoeshine stand and expanded to a full concierge service. Derrick’s business was based on two key principles: providing excellent service and building relationships with his clients, which eventually turned into lifelong friendships. Every day of work was a joy to him because he had the opportunity to impact so many people with his positive and optimistic attitude. Derrick was uplifting and genuine to everyone he met and brightened any room he walked into. More recently, Derrick started to pursue his true calling — becoming a motivational speaker. He was a respected member of the local business community and will be missed by all.
In addition to his passions, Derrick loved watching the Minnesota Vikings and Louisville Cardinals. When he wasn’t doing that he loved pranking his family and friends. Above all, Derrick found his true happiness in spending time with his loved ones and making them laugh.
Derrick’s legacy lives on in his family he treasured — his wife, Connie Sue Carr; his children, Joslyn Nicole Carr, Kenneth Eugene Pierce (Andrea), Joshua Brittney Carr (Dana), and Lincoln Jordan Carr, Sr. (Whitney); his grandchildren, Cody, Brady, Jackson, Shiloh, Xander, Tyson, and Lincoln, Jr.; sisters, Joyce Bailey, Penelope Brazelton (Troy), Rebecca Adams (Mark); and brother Hermanski Carr (Beverly); his seven nieces and five nephews.
Derrick’s family would like to thank everyone who knew and loved him, personally and professionally, for their support during this time. A celebration of life will be held in the near future.
