72, of Louisville transitioned from this realm to the next on May 4, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Don Byers, who passed on October 11, 1998. She is survived by her sister, Dolores Aloha (Cecil) Adwell of Cape Coral, Florida and Joanne (Virgil) Dempster; and her children, Holly Embry Bartsch, Dianne (Dion) Wheeler, Sheri (Tony) Lamothe and David (Donna) Byers, as well as five wonderful grandchildren, Matthew, Dara, Zachary, Tyler and Seth and three lovely great-grandchildren, Jakub, Jadelynn and Baby Anna Wren. Dixie was proud to have been a member of the illustrious Class of 1956 at Shawnee High School, a graduate of Bryant & Stratton Business College and also the University of Louisville. She was a charter member of the Louisville Legal Secretaries Association, and for a period of time she served as Secretary to the Grand Jury. A private graveside service will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road has been entrusted with the service.
