Dolores Ewing Armstrong Geisler was born on April 12, 1941, and passed away on February 25, 2025, at the age of 83. Dolores was born in Louisville, Kentucky, at home, and was one of 11 children belonging to the late Dennis and Catherine Ewing.
Dolores was baptized at a young age and dedicated her life to serving the Lord. Her commitment to her faith was evident through her active involvement in the church, where she served in various capacities, including as a lector, Eucharistic Minister, and on hospitality and service committees. A devout Catholic, she attended both St. Augustine Catholic Church and St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. Dolores also made history as the first Black student at Loretta High School in Louisville, Kentucky. Her career spanned over 20 years as a chef with Marriott Corporation in both Atlanta and Louisville.
Dolores was one of the kindest souls you’d ever encounter—always warm and welcoming, she never met a stranger. Whether you needed help or just someone to lean on, she was always there, your personal “shero” ready to save the day. The word “no” simply wasn’t in her vocabulary (though, perhaps, it occasionally should have been). She found joy in swimming and cherished quality time with her family, whether playing board games or cards.
Delores is survived by her children Renita Dudley and Shari Johnson, Richard Geisler, Phyllis Visser, Dennis Geisler; brothers Lee (Mae), Johnny and William (Priscilla); sisters Dorothy Hackley, Lolita and Rachel Ewing, grandchildren Renada Dudley, Amber Pickens, and Christopher Johnson, and host of family and friends. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Marvin Geisler; sons, Danny Geisler, John Geisler, and Daryl Geisler; brothers, James, Charles, Melvin and Joseph Ewing.
