Dolores Luann Parish, daughter of Philip and Dolores Stortz, passed away on January 13, 2019 at the Episcopal Church Home in Louisville. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Philip and Russell Stortz. She is survived by her sister, Noel Caswell; son, Darrell Parish, Jr.; daughter, Melanie Parish and her fiancé, Chris White; and her husband of 58 years, Darrell Parish.
Luann was a 1957 graduate of Manual HS where she earned Honor Roll distinction each year and was a member of the Tenth Kentucky Girls State. Luann attended UL where she was active in Chi Omega sorority and was tapped for Cwens National Society, the University of Buffalo and Ohio University where she earned a degree in elementary education. She worked for and retired from the USPS in 1995. She lived a life of adventure visiting all fifty states plus many European, Asian and Latin American countries.
Luann was active in the United Methodist Churches in both, Circleville, OH and Crestwood, KY locations where she served as Sunday School teacher and a member of Women’s Guild. In Circleville her work was recognized when she was named Guild Woman of the Year. She was a member of the PeWee Valley Women’s Club where she served as chair of the B&G committee. A city girl by birth, she quickly adapted to the life of a farm girl where she managed a horse and cattle farm in Ohio. Her favorite hobbies included reading, solving puzzles, playing bridge, working with animals and gardening.
The service will be officiated by Reverend Ted Burke. Pallbearers will be: Thomas Hicks, Robert Bynum, Charles Naber, James Duggins, David Deibel and Thomas Ross. Honorary pallbearers will be, Alan Fryrear, Robert Brent, John DeHart, Charles Franck, Jeff Hale and Chris Gibson.
Her visitation will be from 3-8pm on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd. A celebration of Dolores’ life will be conducted at 10am on Friday, January 18, 2019 at the funeral home with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
