

He was born April 16, 1939, in Mayfield, Kentucky, the son of the late Charlie Wheeler Lockhart and Marjorie Elizabeth (Stubblefield) Lockhart. He was also preceded in death by his "womb mate" David at age 45.
Donald was a 1957 graduate of Mayfield High School and went on to graduate from Murray State University in 1962. He taught at Southern High School from 1962-1966 then became a Guidance Counselor at Pleasure Ridge Park Jr. High School where he served from 1967-1972. He also served as a Guidance Counselor at Carrithers Middle School from their opening in 1973 until his retirement in 1989.
Mr. Lockhart as his former students, now adults, would address him, made him very happy.
In retirement, Don an avid pilot, transitioned to an A & P Mechanic and was also an Airplane Inspector.
DonDon is survived by his wife, Shelley Lockhart of 43 years. A brother-in-law Mario Chang(Melody) sisters-in-laws, Judy Stoner(Don) and Polly Schroeder (Ed). Beloved nephews, Tony Thomason(Marla), Jake Thomason(Sarah), Arthur Lee Thomason, Elijah Thomason (Rebecca) Matthew Chang (Jamie), Michael Chang (Natalie), Daniel Chang (Sarah), Bill Lockhart; Nieces, Angel Terry(Jason), Abigail Leora Thomason, Kelly Lockhart and Jenny Lockhart and many more nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
In accordance with Donald’s wishes, cremation was chosen.
Celebration of Don's life will be announced later.
