He began working at the age of 17 at the Old St. Joe’s Infirmary, then he was transferred to Norton Audubon Hospital where he spent the next 36 years. He worked in plant operations where he excelled in many areas. During his time at Audubon, he went on to study and became proficient in locksmithing. He often went to other Norton facilities in the role of locksmith.
One of his greatest joys other than spending time with his children and grandchildren was his tractor “Big Blue”, chocolate ice cream and tootsie rolls. He loved to laugh, smile and be a jokester.
He is preceded in death by his father, Rolla Skaggs.
He is survived by his 4 children. Daughters, Anna Skaggs (Bobbie), Stephanie Weedon, Martha Jean King (Robert); son, Donald “DJ” Skaggs, Jr, (Misty); 4 grandchildren, Niya Weedon, Allison King, Wesley King and Amelia Skaggs.
There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
