Donald George Wenzel Sr.
November 2, 1928 – February 15, 2020
Donald George Wenzel, Sr., 91, of Louisville passed away on February 15, 2020. He was born in Highland Park, Michigan on November 2, 1928, son of the late Ray and Noriene (Bidinger) Wenzel.
Don was a devoted family man, who dedicated his life to loving his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his wife, Karen. His love for life was unmatched; a hard-working salesman and business owner, world traveler, tennis player and golfer, who never met a stranger and could charm them all. His motto was, “Never give up!” His infectious smile and lust for life will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Karen Anne (Hea) Wenzel; children: Joy (Larry) Jevnikar, Jill (Steve) Shlonsky, Don Wenzel, Jr., and Lisa (Dale) Thompson. Cherished by grandchildren: Samantha (Joel)Lawrence, Sarah (Jonathan) Vargo, Brian Shlonsky, Lyn Wenzel (Tripp Brockway), Douglas (Grace) Shlonsky, Warren Wenzel, Grace Wenzel and great-grandchildren: Olivia, Brooklyn, Luke, Addison, Hadley, Alexa, Reagan, and Aiden. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Janice Gruber and brother, Robert Wenzel.
A private family service will be held at Cave Hill Columbarium on Saturday, February 29, 2020.
