Doris J. Pifer, 79, of Louisville, passed away on September 6, 2010, at her home with her loving family by her side. She was the former Doris Coleman, and a member of St. Andrews United Church of Christ, the Order of Eastern Star and Aahmed Grotto. Doris was retired from Insurance Field Company as a general manager, and a member of the Red Hat Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Henry Pifer; parents, Ray and Nellie Kantlehner, and a brother, Cecil Coleman.
Her children are left to cherish her memory, Janet Thomas (Robert), Trudy Lewis (Ron), R. Andy Pifer (Christine), Toni Beard (Alan) and Nora Pifer; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sue Kantlehner and Peggy Zimmerman (Buddy); brother, Jerry Kantlehner (Judy), and her baby schnauzer, Pearl.
Her Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, September 10, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road, with cremation to follow. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 2-8 p.m. and Friday from noon till 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
