Doris Jean Slaughter

She was born April 23, 1945 to Chester and Mary K. Weller. Preceded in death by both parents and a grandson, Clayton Slaughter. She leaves behind two children, Kathy Lynn Weil and Mark William Slaughter, eight grandchildren; Amber Nutter, Taylor Tillman (Nick), Krista Lewis (Steve), Dylan Slaughter (Kayla), Kyle Slaughter, Allison Slaughter, Victoria Bradley and Matthew Bradley (Ashley) children to Tammy Bradley and seven great grandchildren.

She was a member of Highview Baptist Church; 1963 Graduate of Ahrens Trade High School and 1974 Graduate of Jefferson County School of Practical Nursing.

She worked in the Shelby County School System as a teacher's assistant with behavior disabled and at risk children for several years. She also worked for old LPD as a Traffic Control I and Parking Enforcement officer. She retired in 2005.

Doris loved her church and animals. She was a member of ASPCA and the Humane Society. Doris leaves behind her beloved dog, Max.

Visitation will be 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Arch L Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd, with funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel.
