Doris was blessed to spend 61 years happily married to the love of her life, Butch. She was an adoring wife and an amazing mother to her son, James "Bob" Watters.
Doris excelled in her studies and was the first female valedictorian at Male High School, graduating in 1960.
She carried on to complete her education degree at UK and U of L.
Doris spent 31 years with the Jefferson County school system, mostly with special needs children. She created work transition programs that enabled these children to learn real world skills so they could have an enhanced quality of life after graduation.
She loved boating and loved spending time on the water.
Later in life she found a renewed passion for teaching dance for 25 years with her beloved husband Butch. She brought joy to so many people’s lives through the art of dancing and loved every moment of it!
She was always ready with a kind word and an uplifting spirit, but would also provide a quick witticism when the situation called for it.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son David. She is survived by her son Bob; and her siblings Janice, Jimmy, and Robert.
