

Dorothy Ann Barnes, of Louisville passed away October 31, 2012 into the loving arms of Jesus, her personal savior and friend. She was born on September 19, 1925 in Louisville to the late C. Roy Barnes and Ella Mae Hart. She worked for the Kentucky Auto Insurance Plan and was a longtime secretary at Zion United Church of Christ. She was a faithful member of Immanuel United Church of Christ and a volunteer in numerous charitable organizations. Many awards were bestowed on Dorothy for volunteerism. She was honored as a Kentucky Colonel and Bell award recipient.
Dorothy’s love of children took many avenues including the missions programs at her church, Brooklawn Children’s Home and the Home of the Innocents.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a sister, Laura Ruffra and a brother, Ivan Barnes.
She is survived by a sister, Cornelia “Nita” Anderson (Jack); a brother, James Wood Barnes as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted Monday at 2pm at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 2300 Taylorsville Road with burial to follow in the Bardstown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-6 on Sunday at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven,4400 Bardstown Road and from 1 until service time on Monday at the church.
