Dorothy's early years in Central City shaped the strong, compassionate woman she would become. She was the cherished daughter of Hubert Floyd Rice and Pearl Mae Denison, both of whom preceded her in passing. Her journey led her to the love of her first husband, Pete Ashley, with whom she shared the joy of parenthood. Together, they welcomed their son, Ira David Ashley, who sadly preceded her in death.
After the passing of her husband Pete, Dorothy embraced her title as owner of Ashley Aluminum Foundry
Dorothy found love again with her surviving husband, Tom Bruton, who stood by her side, sharing in life's adventures and challenges. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Vicki Lynn Sticklin (Fred), and grandmother to her grandchildren, Dory, Liz, and Delaney.
A woman of many interests, Dorothy found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her hands were rarely still, as she created intricate crochet masterpieces that were as warm and inviting as her personality. She was an avid reader, always eager to explore new worlds and ideas through the pages of a book. Dorothy's love for watching westerns was well-known, as she could often be found enjoying the tales of cowboys and the old frontier.
