She was born in Bowling Green, KY to the late Curtis Harris and Edith Kirby Harris.
Dot was the Field Education Secretary at the Louisville Presbyterian Seminary for several years where she assisted in placing student ministers in surrounding churches, as well as ministering to students and faculty when and where needed, until her retirement in 1989. She was a graduate of Bowling Green High School and studied secretarial science at Western Kentucky University. She was musically inclined, loved to play the piano and sing. She was a longtime member of Jeffersontown United Methodist Church and in her later years, a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Dot was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Richard “Dick” Matthews, and her husband of 20 years, Roland “Kitch” Kitchen. She is survived by her two children, Steve Matthews (Joan) and Mark Matthews (Lisa); her four grandchildren, Stephanie Jamison, Jason Matthews (Lisa), Ben Matthews (Rachel), and Dylan Hohman; and her great-grandchildren, Slade Jamison, Jax Jamison, and Heidi Matthews.
A visitation will be on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, from 10:00am – 12:00 pm, with a memorial service in Dot's honor beginning right at 12:00pm. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
