Dorothy May Heyser, of Louisville, KY returned to her Heavenly Father and the love of her life Harry Heyser (Joe) on January 21, 2022 at the age of 94. Born to Anna and Joseph Baker on December 22, 1927 she was named Dorothy, meaning gift of God. She truly was a gift to everyone she knew.
Dorothy dropped out of high school in 10th grade to help support her family. She provided for both her brother, Elmer and sister, Emma with housing and food until their deaths.
In her mid 30’s, Dorothy and Joe started Joe’s Auto Parts at 3rd St. Rd and Outer Loop. Dorothy would read Joe the instructions on how to repair a crank and rebuild an engine. Their business grew rapidly due to their kindness and willingness to barter with those that could not pay cash. They accumulated many meals, furniture, an old juke box and an endless number of friends.
Their business flourished and were able to build a brand new home as well as a house on Rough River Lake. They spent countless hours fishing and boating. Dorothy wanted it on record that she caught more fish than Joe. Her resiliency, kindness and empathy of others has been passed on to her family.
