Dorothy L. Sims

Sims, Dorothy, 94, 0f Louisville passed from this life on Tuesday July 31, 2012 at her home with her family by her side. She was the former Dorothy Lile Barnes. A native of Grayson County, she was a graduate of Mount St. Joseph College, a teacher in a one room school house, a retired employee of Brown Foreman Distillery, and a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Sims; sons, Robert and Thomas Sims; and a grandson, Andrew Sims. She is survived by her sons, Bill, Tony, Art, Richard, Ken and Jeff Sims; daughters Barbara Semones, Martha Jean Liebert, and Mary Sims; a sister, Mary Clark; 25 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and a daughter in-law Lesa who helped care for her. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am Saturday at Most Blessed Sacrament, 3509 Taylor Blvd. Interment will follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be from 2-8 pm Friday at the Southern Home of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd. Memorial gifts may be made to Hosparus of Louisville or the Alzheimer’s Association of KY.
