

Dorothy “Dottie” Jean Smith passed away peacefully at the age of 72 on March 11, 2025 after a long hard fought battle with Dementia. Dottie was a beloved Sister, Friend, Aunt, Mother, and Grandmother. She was born on May 16, 1952 in Pittsburgh, PA and was raised by her parents Thomas Edgar Foulkes and Margaret Ina (Clutter) Foulkes. Dottie spent her childhood in Pittsburgh, PA, Russellville, KY, and Louisville, KY. She attended high school in Louisville at both Waggener and Eastern high schools, graduating from the latter in 1970. Dottie attended Lindsey Wilson College and was a proud graduate of Eastern Michigan University. She received her bachelor's degree in Business Administration and was a Certified Public Accountant. She spent the majority of her career with Presbyterian Church USA in Louisville, KY where she made many dear friends and held multiple leadership positions including, Vice President, Controller, and Chief Financial Officer.
When Dottie wasn’t taking the corporate world by storm, she continued to be an absolute success at everything she did. Dottie was a breast cancer survivor. She was the proud Mother of twin boys. She had a true gift of turning a house into a home and had a design style that was as bold and unique as she was. She loved all animals, but dogs and horses especially. Dottie loved unconditionally and adored spoiling her sons and nieces (the daughters she never had.)
Dottie Smith was a force. Her beauty, energy, unwavering support, and tenacity were a true blessing to behold by her loved ones. Dottie is survived by sons Benjamin Smith and Alexander Smith (Casey), and her cherished granddaughters Parker Smith and Blakely Smith. She is also survived by her sister Claudia Foulkes and nieces Tommi Peters, Leah Rich (Jasper), and Natalie Rich. She was preceded in death by her Father Thomas Edgar Foulkes, her Mother Margaret Ina (Clutter) Foulkes, and sister Janet Gayle Ohlendorf.
Visitation will be held at Crescent Hill Presbyterian Church from 3-5PM with Memorial Service to follow at 5PM on Sunday March 23, 2025. She will be laid to rest in Resthaven Memorial Park on March 25, 2025.
Memorial gifts are requested to be made to the Kentucky Humane Society in her name.
