He was a Navy veteran, worked for the Professional Ambulance Service, the Army Ammunition Plant and as a Security Guard at the Oxmoor Center.
Dwight is preceded in death by his parents, Wilma and Glenn Hawes and his sister, Gail Lewis.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Whitehair-Hawes, a son, Todd Hawes, step-sons, Thomas Whitehair Jr., and Scott Whitehair. Dwight is also survived by three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 10:30 am-12:00 pm on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral home.
Burial will follow immediately after the visitation at St. Joseph Cemetery in Bardstown KY.
