

Earl Sanders, age 88, passed away on August 8, 2026. He was born on June 24, 1938, to Rex and Virgie Sanders in Park City, Kentucky. Earl was a former member of Eastern Parkway Baptist Church and was a member of the Mason fraternity. He was a man who could do just about anything and took great pride in working with his hands. He enjoyed tinkering, riding his lawn mower and Harley, drawing, building, and spending time outdoors. Earl loved country music and watching Westerns, especially Gunsmoke and the adventures of Marshall Dillion. He spent lots of time at the camp at the lake, taking his children on the boat skiing every weekend and enlisting their help to build things by hand. Earl enjoyed playing pool and was known for his excellent cooking. His intelligence, creativity, and ability to fix or build nearly anything were qualities that those who knew him admired. He will be remembered not only for the things he could do, but also for the love that he gave so freely to his family.
Along with his parents, Earl is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Patricia Jean Sanders; his daughter, Sandy Thurman; his great granddaughter, Autumn Seelye-Hicks; his great-great-granddaughter, Thalia; and his brothers, Morris "Doc" Dean Sanders, James F. Sanders, and Leroy Sanders.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 21 years, Jewel Sanders; his daughter, Kerry Jean Seelye (Marty); his daughter, Dee Ann Oliver (Jim Randy), his son, Daniel W. Sanders (Theresa, his daughter, Brenda Nash; his daughter, Kim Bobsin; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Earl will be held at Evergreen Funeral Home in Louisville, Kentucky on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. A funeral service will take place in the same location the following day, Friday, August 14, 2026, beginning at 11:00AM. Earl will be laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
