

Edith was born in Harlan, KY, and attended Eastern Kentucky University 1939-1941. She met her husband Murrell during World War II while working concurrently at an aircraft factory which was located adjacent to the present-day Standiford Field. She was a member of Beechmont Baptist Church. Her passions in life included teaching Sunday school, baking, sewing, art and taking care of elderly neighbors. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband James Murrell Scott, who passed away in 1992 and by her sister, Geneva Anderson.
Edith is survived by her four children, James M. Scott, Jr. (Vivian), Donald A. Scott (Pat), Philip R. Scott (Karen) and Shirley Scott Snyder (Stuart), four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Edith also considered Tracy Leet, a loving caregiver, as a close member of her family.
A celebration of Edith's life will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013 in the Chapel of Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd., with entombment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. the day of the service.
