

She was the former Edna Clay and native of Dallas, TX, and after 68 years, she was the oldest member of Highland Baptist Church. She was a retired salesperson and alterationist for the old Stewart Dry Goods. She volunteered for Baptist Hospital and St. Joseph Children's Home. As an avid quilter, she had made more than 400 handmade quilts. Until the age of 92, she was actively involved in the Order of the Eastern Star, Purity Chapter #116, holding the office of Worthy Matron and Kentucky's Representative to California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Garlin W. King.
She is survived by her son, Gordon W. King; daughters, Wanda Gene Stanley and Judy Lanham; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. One of nine children, she has one surviving sister, Venia Mae Wheat.
Her Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, August 23, 2010, at noon at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road, with interment in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
