After graduating from the University of Louisville Mr. Evans served in the army where he was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Edward leaves behind a proud legacy of five children, Virginia Marie Brown (Rick), Linda Kay Woods (Richard), Edward Evans IV (Kathy), Michael Edward Evans (Sandra) and Donna Ann Francke (Tony) along with 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Evans (Betty). A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday 12 noon at Evergreen Funeral Home with entombment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. How blessed I am for the wonderful father I was given. You always made me feel special and I always knew you were proud of me. You were always bragging on your family. What a legacy you have left. I will miss you terribly Dad and I know I will cry many tears. Someday I will see you again but until that time I will remember ..."until your memory becomes a treasure". Thank you for the bible verse you left us "...to live is Christ, to die is gain" Philippians 1:21. This verse comforted you during your life's journey and also comforted us as we watched you slowly slip away. Thank you for your love, guidance, and faith. This bible verse comes to mind. ...and the time has come for my departure. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which The Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me, but to all who have longed for his appearing". 2 Timothy 4:6,7,8 Go with God my dear father and know the peace that surpasses all understanding. I am forever your little girl. I love you Daddy.

On our 18th birthdays all the grandchildren would receive either a ring or a knife. The girls would always receive rings but I really wanted something handmade instead, so I chose to receive a knife that Grandpa made. He let me choose which one I wanted and seemed pleased that I chose the knife made with a walnut handle. I will cherish that gift made by my Grandpa Edward's own hands for the rest of my life. I also remember that every time I said goodbye and gave you a hug after Sunday dinner you would say, "You get prettier every time I see you" then you would chuckle. Thank you Grandpa Edward <3

Good bye Dad. As the song says, "til we meet again on that beautiful shore". I have felt so blessed all the days of my life to be your daughter. You were a strong, authoritative, yet loving father. Never in my life did I not feel safe and loved. So many memories I have of everyday life growing up and as an adult with you and Mom and our family. Your home was always open to us and a safe place to fall. Although not a mansion, 4301 Hannah Avenue is the house that built me, my home. I have you... Eddie the paperboy and Rosie from Belmar to thank for that. I love you

Good bye Dad, as the song says, "until we meet on that beautiful shore". You were a strong, authoritative, yet loving father and I felt blessed all the days of my life to be your daughter. Thank you for installing the value and strength of family and hard work and for always, along with Mom, opening your home for any of us who needed a soft place to fall. I will always cherish all the simple, everyday fun things we did as all those memories were made with you and Mom and our family. Though far from being a mansion, 4301 Hannah Avenue was the house that built me, my home. You and Mom made that possible.

I always enjoyed sitting out back of the house listening to his stories and enjoying ome of his favorite beverages. He always got a big kick out of pointing out Diehlmans Hammer Toe on warm Summer evenings. Those where good times.

Grandpa, thank you for instilling so many values into my life. Thank you for making me feel special although I was one of many. Thank you for being a father and a grandfather to me. We are all so sad to see you leave, but have so much peace in knowing you are in Heaven. There are so many memories, way too many to list but for the rest of my life I will remember 4 important things you taught us, love God first, love your family 2nd, love your country and don't worry about what you make, worry about what you save.I am proud to be an Evans and so proud to have belonged to you.
