

Edward Lee Hammond, a beloved Louisville native, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 in Louisville. A proud military veteran, Ed lived a vibrant life marked by service, generosity, and an unwavering love for his family and community.
Born in Louisville, Ed graduated from Louisville Male High School and went on to earn a degree from the University of Louisville, where he was an active member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to become the owner-operator of Hammond Marketing, where he built a model of integrity and innovation. Ed’s dedication to his home state was recognized when he was honored as a Kentucky Colonel.
A passionate outdoorsman, Ed found joy in nature, whether playing golf with friends or simply soaking in the beauty of Kentucky’s landscapes. Known for his gift of hospitality, Ed never met a stranger, welcoming all with warmth and a story to share. His commitment to education inspired those around him, as he championed learning and growth in his community.
Ed was a devoted husband to his wife of 66 years, Marjorie, a loving father to his three children, Kevin, Jeff and Melissa, and a cherished grandfather to seven grandchildren. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss his infectious spirit. Ed was preceded in death by his father, stepfather, mother, and sister.
A celebration of Ed’s life will be held Sunday, June 8, 2025, from 1 to 4 pm at Resthaven Funeral home.

Ed’s legacy of kindness, hospitality, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
