Eleanor F. Thomas, 99, of Louisville passed away Monday, October 31, 2016. She was born December 5, 1916 to her late parents Gilbert and Hazel Stivers. Mrs. Thomas was a former member of St. Luke’s Methodist Church in Camp Taylor, and a retired cook at Prestonia Elementary School in Jefferson County. She was married to her husband Joe E. Thomas on May 9, 1936 and they were married for 57 years until his passing on April 18, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her siblings; Horace Stivers, Jasper Stivers, Joseph Stivers, Mary Ernst and William Stivers. Left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Joe Ann Whitaker and Randall Thomas, three grandchildren, eight great grandchildren. Eleanor Thomas led a pure life, she was a devoted wife and mother and she will be greatly missed by all family and friends that knew her. A Celebration of the life service to honor Eleanor will be conducted on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 1:00pm in the chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son FH, 8519 Preston Hwy. Louisville, KY 40219 with interment to follow at Mt. Eden Cemetery in Bullitt County. Visitation will be from 10:00am until time of the service.
