Elenora Rose (Stafford) Braun Peak, on May 13, 2012, 3 months past her 97th birthday left her earthly body as we know it to join all of her beloved family members who preceded her in death. Her teenage love and first husband, the father of their five children, Russell Jacob Braun; her love and companion of 24 years, Norman Age and her second husband James Peak. First child and daughter, Shirley Ann (Braun) Engel; first born son, Arnold Arthur Braun; son-in-law, Elzie Dean Spencer; granddaughter Hattie Louise Green and great-granddaughter Shirley Frances (Pace) Dattilo.
Elenora was born in Louisville, where she lived her entire life. She attended St. Boniface Catholic School through 8th grade. Upon completion she continued her studies at Highland Jr. High, known now as Highland Middle School, where one of her great-great-granddaughters, Sarah Baird, is now a student. Elenora continued on to St. Henena's Commercial College in Louisville, earning a degree in Bookkeeping and graduated in 1932.
During her young adult life she enjoyed dancing with her "first love", Russ on the "America" and going to baseball games with all of the "gang". Later in life she became an avid bowler and had won numerous High Series games. She continued to bowl until her 96th birthday. She also enjoyed ballroom dancing and had won several trophies along with her partner Norman Age. The later part of her life she spent with her second husband Jim, who she always referred to as "My Pal" , traveling to all of their favorite places and enjoying Broadway shows. When at home there was never a basketball game or baseball game with the Reds or the Yankees playing on TV that was not watched!
Those of us who remain to cherish the memories are her children Lavern R. Green, Thelma L. Spencer and Gary L. Braun (Jan); Daughter-in-law Bonnie Braun; five stepchildren, Doris Moffett, Bonnie Lichtefeld (Frank), Gemma Newman (Bob), Bruce (Diana), Kevin Peak (Carla); 21 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren and her cousin, Marie Berens. Her last great-great granddaughter, Prestan Louise was born on May 3rd, 2012. To us she will always be Mom, MalMal, Grandma and great-great MalMal. We have been truly blessed to have her in our life for so many years. She has left us with many funny quotes and memories that will always put a grin on our face!!
