Elzie Hack, 99, began his heavenly journey Friday, July 15, 2016 at Windsor Gardens in Bardstown, Kentucky. He was born January 15, 1917 in Edmondson County. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mae Winnifred (Porterfield) Hack, son, Ray Hack, Sr., brother, Emmet Hack, and sisters, Cora Giaochina, Emma Woehler, and Elsie Proctor. Although he enjoyed boxing and wrestling, he was a gentle spirit dedicated to his friends and family. He faithfully attended Sunday services at Southside Baptist Church and was retired from American Air Filter. He was a US Army WWII veteran, a Past Master of the Mt. Zion Masonic Lodge #147, as well as being a Shriner, York Rite and 32nd Degree mason, and Kentucky Colonel.
He is survived by his daughters, Sara Jane “Janie” Boros (James “Jim”) and Ruth Watson; 5 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Sunday at Arch L. Heady and Son Southern Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3601 Taylor Blvd. His Funeral Service will be 9:00 am Monday at Southside Baptist Church, 804 Camden Ave. with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
