

Emma was born on January 15, 1932, to Mary Christopher & Sidney Brown. Emma was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. Emma moved to California and later joined her parents in Louisville.
Emma was fun, loving, sassy, supportive, and known for doing what she wanted to do regardless of what anyone said. Today, we come together to remember a soul that graced our lives with its presence, and as we bid farewell to Emma's physical being, let us carry forth the cherished memories that illuminate the darkest corners of our sorrow. Emma's departure leaves behind a void that words struggle to fill.
Emma gave birth to six children, Carolyn Meanus, George Rayford Jr., Sandra Rayford, Denise Rayford and Ladonna Rayford-McGillberry.

Emma is survived by her son, George Rayford Jr., daughters, Denise, Sandra Rayford, Martha Howell and Georgia James. Grandchildren, Ashley Cunningham, Yvonne Tony Fulks, Ariva Smith, Walter Meanus, Edrena Michael Cosby, Herman (Du'Shawn) Smith and Christopher Kennedy. Nieces, Nancy Rayford, and Sharon Monroe, great nieces, Yvette McCollum, Alecia McCollum, Alijah McCollum, Corleica Murphy, and Corea Murphy. Great nephew, Acari Murphy. Great grandchildren, Jonathon Fulk, Kalia Butler, Shayane Fulks, Alonzo Cunningham, Talisa Meanus, Aikihiro Smith, Larry Broaden, Tavarus Smith, Kahlil Kennedy, Laqueshia Meanus, Michael Cosby and 15 great great-grandchildren.
Emma is preceded in death by her parents, Mary Christopher and Sidney Brown. Former husband, George Rayford Sr., sisters, Ruby, Daisy, Mae and Seven other sisters. Daughters, Carolyn Meanus & Ladonna McGillberry. Grandson, George Meanus, Nephew, James Rayford and niece, Earline Rayford.

A visitation for Emma will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218, a funeral service will start following the visitation at 3:00 PM, An entombment will take place on Monday, September 30, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Resthaven Memorial Park Mausoleum.
