He was a retired butcher for Swift and Company, a member of Beechland Baptist Church, former member of Beth Haven Baptist, and a Navy veteran of WWII.
Gene was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Lynn Gritton. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley Brock Tingle; sons Eugene Tingle, Jr (Brenda Kay) and Jeffrey Tingle (Marketta); 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Hwy, followed by burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be from 12-8 pm Thursday.
