Janet Buschmann, 82, was born August 24, 1932 in Louisville. She passed away on July 10, 2015. She is preceded in death by her mother, Genevieve Buschmann and two sisters, Genevieve Chilton and Margaret “Margie” Thomas.
She is survived by a great niece, Ann (Rob) Miller and a great nephew, Steve (Tammel) Thomas, great great nephew Vincent Miller, great great niece Lauren Miller, and many close friends, including the Bennett family.
She was a retired art teacher and former head of the art department for Greater Clark County Schools. She is a 1950 graduate of Louisville Girls High School and a 1954 graduate of Centre College. Post graduate, she attended University of Wisconsin and Indiana University and earned a MA in Fine Arts. Throughout her life, she was passionate about improving the lives of young people, as well as many causes. She was a strong supporter of the Louisville Peace Action Community, Dare to Care and the KY Humane Society.
Visitation will be held 3-5 pm with a memorial service at 5 pm, on Friday July 24, at Arch L. Heady Cralle 2428 Frankfort Avenue.
She will be missed by the many people and animals whose lives she touched. In her remembrance, donations may be made to Dare to Care and the Ky Humane Society.
