

He was born December 22nd 1942, the oldest son of the late Floyd and Martha Amsler. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sandra, along with son Stephen (Teri), and daughters Teri Lyn Brekken and Melinda Luke (Matthew). Surviving grandchildren are Douglas (Lyn), Michael, Emily, Devon, Tyler, Christopher and Tristan; also his two brothers, David (Shirley), and Kevin (Paige).
He lived in West Lafayette, IN until he joined the Air Force in 1962. Upon his discharge, he and his family settled in Louisville where he attended UofL and earned a BS degree from the School of Business. Steve was a member of Christ Church United Methodist. He was employed as the yard supervisor at Blue Grass Cooperage for 27 years and 10 years at Bailey Tools. His free time was spent camping, boating and vacationing with his family at Lake Cumberland, and attending UofL football and basketball games for years. Steve was also able to obtain his private pilot license in 1998, a lifelong dream of his.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2016 in the chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd. Visitation will be Thursday from 1-8.
