

Frances Henry Taylor Fishback died on October 5, 2017 at around 4:30 p.m. surrounded by her family. She was born on February 7, 1931 to John T. and Hattie J. Taylor in Cynthiana, Kentucky. While growing up, she channeled Lady Godiva on a tricycle ride through downtown Cynthiana at age 3 and by age 10 “could whup every boy her age in town.” Fran then went on to graduate from Cynthiana High School and become a journalism major at the University of Kentucky. She married William V. Fishback and they moved to Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton during the Korean War. She was a homemaker while living in Indianapolis and then Louisville, where she had two children, Price Vanmeter Fishback and Mary Taylor Fishback in the late 1950s. Following Van Fishback’s career with General Electric, she moved to Bethesda, Maryland, and Dunedin, Florida. In Florida Fran became a real estate agent.
After moving back to Louisville in 1969, she became one of the top agents at the Paul Semonin Company in the 1980s and 1990s, and eventually joined the agents at Kentucky Select before retiring. She married Harry (Bud) Clark in 1978 and Sharon Clark, Susan Clark and Phoebe Niles joined the family. Fran enjoyed life to the hilt. She loved to travel, particularly to see a wide range of friends and family. She was an avid Wildcat fan. She also supported the Cards when they were not playing Kentucky because most of the kids and their spouses graduated from Louisville. She also attended nearly every sporting event in which her children and grandchildren played. Her favorite book was Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, by John Berendt, she loved listening to the Beatles, Motown, and Christmas song, and see always looked for cardinals. When you see a cardinal, think of her.
She is survived by the following members of her family: her daughter Taylor and her husband David Deibel, their children Erin, Katherine, and Jamie, who recently married Andy Ferree; her son Price and his wife Pamela Slaten; her daughter Sharon and her husband Benjamin Van Bakel; her daughter Susan and her husband Gerald Mitchell; and her daughter Phoebe and her husband Ed Niles.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will take place at 5:00 p.m. with Memorial Visitation from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 9th at Arch L.Heady and Son Funeral Home & Cremation Services at 7410 Westport Road.
