I wish I had taken the opportunity to personally convey to "Mr. Geoghegan" (as I knew and always addressed him) the profoundly positive effect he had on my life.  His teachings inspired me to major in biology in college and to pursue an MD/PhD.  He was absolutely the best teacher I had in high school.  It is an honor to have been one of his students and I will always cherish my memories of him.

I met Mr. Geoghegan in 1970 as a 7th grader at Louisville Country Day....the all boys prep school. He was stern and serious, but fair, kind hearted and understanding. He gave us strong guidance and demanded performance. He made us sit in the lunch room in silence during recess when we deserved it. We loved him because he cared about us. I will always be grateful to him. I am deeply sorry I missed his memorial. He was a helping hand at a time when I needed it.  I will never forget and will always affectionately appreciate him!!

Mr. Geohegan was one of the teachers who stand out to me because he encouraged me. That may seem like a small thing, but he went out of his way my senior year to tell me that he was impressed with my growth and my passion for learning. He impacted me like few educators did. Thank you Mr. G for sending me off to college with confidence.

So sad to hear of his passing. Mr Geoghgan was my biology teacher in Eighth grade and then again in high school. He was a magnificent teacher and mentor. Will never forget him teaching the Krebs cycle, phyla, and his wool jacket. Don't know how many of his students went on to be physicians but almost 10 % of my class from 1974. College biology was a complete repeat of his class. He will be missed.

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Geoghegan's passing.  He was one of my favorite teachers at KCD and like so many of them he had a great influence on my life. I think every student of Mr. Geoghegan felt the "Vulcan" steel grip of his hand on their shoulder. And every student knew it was a stern, soft, and friendly voice to guide us, not only to be a good student, but an honorable young man or woman.  He truly left a strong legacy who will remember him and his lessons for generations.

He had  the quickest wit and a sly smile to back it up! He loved to tease but was all business when class started. I truly adored Mr. Geoghegan!

Mr. Geoghegan was a consummate teacher whose humor and wisdom touched many lives.   I have many memories of the time I spent in his classroom, and 35 years later, still think of him often.   I only hope that I can be the kind of teacher he was – one that is remembered so fondly by so many.
