Gary Wayne Barksdale

Gary Wayne Barksdale, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2024, in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. Born on May 31, 1959, to Roy M. Barksdale Jr. and Theresa Barksdale, Gary's life was a vibrant tapestry of love, creativity, and joy.

Gary's passion for life was evident in his love for fishing and sports, especially his unwavering support for the Kentucky Wildcats. He was a cherished painter by trade and enjoyed every moment of it. His fondness for sweets and chocolates was only surpassed by the love he held for his family.

Gary's legacy is carried on by his beloved wife of 10 years, Joyce Barksdale; his mother, Theresa Barksdale; his sons, Dustin Emmons (Beth) and Roy Hardy (Leah); his daughter, Stefanie Fisher; his step-daughter, Sherry Wright; his brothers, Keith Barksdale (Linda) and Timothy Barksdale; his sister, Terry Miller; as well as his eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who brought him immeasurable happiness.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roy M. Barksdale Jr., and his brother, James E. Barksdale.

Gary's life was a testament to the beauty of embracing one's passions and cherishing every moment with loved ones. His memory will be held in the hearts of his family and friends as a beacon of warmth and affection.

Gary's presence will be profoundly missed, yet his spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him.

A visitation will be help at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home 4400 Bardstown Road Louisville, Kentucky 40218 on October 24, 2024 from 3PM-8PM. A funeral service will be the following day on October 25, 2024 in the funeral homes chapel. Gary will be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park.
